THE BOOK OF MORMON TESTIFIES OF JESUS CHRIST

Contents Title Page II Nephi

The First Book of Nephi

An account of Lehi and his wife Sariah, and his four sons, being called (beginning at the eldest) Laman, Lemuel, Sam, and Nephi. The Lord warned Lehi to depart out of the land of Jerusalem, because he prophesied to the people concerning their iniquity; and they sought to destroy his life.

[Lehi] testified that the things which he saw and heard, and also the things which he read in the book, manifested plainly of the coming of a Messiah, and also the redemption of the world. And when the Jews heard these things, they were angry with him, even as with the prophets of old, whom they had cast out, and stoned, and slain; and they also sought his life, that they might take it away. 1:29-30

[Lehi] also spoke concerning the prophets, how great a number had testified of these things, concerning this Messiah of whom he had spoken, or this Redeemer of the world. Wherefore, all mankind were in a lost and in a fallen state, and ever would be, save they should rely on this Redeemer. 3:4-7

[These records] shall make known to all kindreds, tongues and people that the Lamb of God is the son of the Eternal Father and the Savior of the world; and that all men must come to him or they cannot be saved; and they must come according to the words which shall be established by the mouth of the Lamb. 3:192-194

Wherefore, the Lord God will proceed to make bare his arm in the eyes of all the nations, in bringing about his covenants and his gospel to those who are of the house of Israel ... and they shall know that the Lord is their Savior and their Redeemer, the mighty one of Israel. 7:22-24

[Moses] spoke, saying: A prophet shall the Lord your God raise up to you, like me; him shall ye hear in all things whatsoever he shall say to you. And all those who will not hear that prophet shall be cut off from among the people. Now I, Nephi, declare to you that this prophet of whom Moses spoke was the Holy One of Israel. 7:43-46
